New Delhi, March 18 (IANS) Wrestler-actor Sangram Singh, who has launched sportswear range 'SGX by Sangram Singh' says his intention is to make the brand special for the common man by bringing forth economical sports apparel.
Sangram, who shot to fame with reality show "Bigg Boss 7" and "Nach Baliye 7" with fiance Payal Rohatgi, launched the range on Thursday at the ongoing Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2016, being held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here.
"During my younger days, when I used to stay in a village, I could not afford a track suit. I used to go for running in 'baniyaan' (vest) and that is why I thought to make the brand special for 'aam aadmi'.
"In India, we have approximately 75 percent people who will be able to afford this brand as the price range is Rs.100 to Rs.999, which is not much," Sangram said while launching his sportswear range.
He added: "We have made the brand in such a way that it will be special for all. It is a fashionably fit brand."
In this fashion endeavour, Sangram is supported by designer Rohit Bal and Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the country's apex fashion body.
Bal also took to the stage to wish Sangram good luck "for the new venture", adding that "we need many more people like Sangram in sports industry".
FDCI president Sunil Sethi also lauded Sangram's logic.
Sangram, who was accompanied by Payal at the event, asserted that the brand is about quality irrespective of the price range.
"Don't go on price, our stuff is also very good," Sangram quipped.
