New Delhi, March 17 (IANS) BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday said a probe was on to fix responsibility over business tycoon Vijay Mallya leaving the country.
Answering queries at the India Today conclave here, Shah said it was a mistake that Mallya left the country.
"By whose mistake he left the country, this is being probed. He left the country, this was a mistake," Shah said.
Mallya left the country on March 2, days before a group of creditor-banks led by the State Bank of India moved the Supreme Court to restrain him from leaving India.
A consortium of 17 banks led by the State Bank of India wants the liquor baron to be arrested for not repaying about Rs.9,000 crore he had borrowed.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday said every penny due from Mallya to state-run banks will be recovered.
The Congress has attacked the government over Mallya leaving the country and asked it to act against the public officials and politicians who "helped" the businessman leave the country.
