Ahmedabad, March 15 (IANS) Four people were killed and eight injured in a hit-and-run incident in Gandhidham city in Gujarat's Kutch district, police said on Tuesday. Residents alleged that the son of a local industrialist was the main culprit.
Police said the incident took place near the IFFCO Gate, when a speeding sports utility vehicle first hit a two-wheeler, a scooty and then the people on the roadside around 11 p.m. on Monday.
Three people, including a woman, died on the spot while one succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, police said. The eight injured were hospitalised.
Police said the driver sped away after the accident.
Though no arrest has been made so far, Gujarati dailies quoted residents as alleging that police was trying to save the culprit as he is the son of a local industrialist.
