Abu Dhabi, March 14 (IANS/WAM) The United Arab Emirates (WAE) Council of Scientists held its first meeting aimed at achieving goals and objectives in launching programmes for the development of a generation of researchers, scientists and academics.
During the meeting, chaired by council president Sara Al Amiri, the attendees discussed ways to identify the criteria that will be followed in launching the programmes and projects to encourage studies and innovations in science and technology.
The meeting touched on mechanisms to boost cooperation and transfer knowledge and experiences between the public and private sectors, as well as the council's role in providing scientific advice to decision-makers in the government on scientific and technical trends.
Amiri said the establishment of the Council came at an important stage of the UAE's development process, coinciding with the establishment of post-oil standards.
