Tokyo, March 15 (IANS) Tokyo stocks opened lower on Tuesday as investors took up a cautious stance ahead of the conclusion of the Bank of Japan's (BOJ) two-day policy meeting.
As of 9.15 a.m. (local time), the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 25.44 points, or 0.15 percent, from Monday to 17,208.31, Xinhua news agency reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 4.28 points, or 0.31 percent, to 1,375.67.
Notable early decliners were led by pulp and paper, oil and coal product, and mining-linked shares.
