Ritu Beri celebrates 25 years in fashion with two books

New Delhi, March 14 (IANS) Fashion designer Ritu Beri, who was among the first Indians to storm the catwalks of Paris over two decades ago, is coming up with two new books to mark her 25 years in the fashion industry.

"After 25 years in the fashion industry, this is certainly one of life's full circle moments for me," Beri said in a statement.

The books include an autobiography titled “The Fire of A Restless Mind” and “The Designs of A Restless Mind”. Both inspiring books will compile her extraordinary journey.

“'The Fire of A Restless Mind' is a first-hand, exciting portrayal of the various experiences that I encountered in my journey through life. (It is) Interspersed with adventures as I aspired to conquer and then set out to seize the global fashion world," Beri said.

"It is a straightforward, easy to read autobiographical rendition of the evolution of the Indian fashion industry,” added Beri, who is known for her clean cuts and sharp tailoring of western silhouttes.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology alumnus says nothing inspires her "more than life".

"Life is my source of passion and has gifted me some of the most rewarding experiences. This book of pictures tells my stories and I breathe life into them through my thoughts, in words. The book is also a rendition of the evolution of the Indian fashion industry,” she added.

The books are published by Academic Foundation and will be launched on April 9 at the Hyatt Regency hotel here.

Beri, who became the first Asian to head French fashion house Jean Louis Scherrer, has achieved many milestones in her career.

She was not only bestowed the ‘Order of Civil Merit’, a civilian award by the Spanish government, but was also conferred with the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters), one of the highest civilian awards by the French government.
