London, March 15 (IANS) FTSE 100 Index, the British benchmark stock market gauge rose by 0.57 percent, or 34.78 points, to 6,174.57 points.
Share price of Aberdeen Asset Management, which increased by 6.99 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips on Monday, Xinhua news agency reported.
Anglo American, InterContinental Hotels Group, Glencore and Berkeley Group Holdings increased by 5.99 percent, 4.55 percent, 4.38 percent and 4.10 percent, respectively.
Provident Financial led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 3.04 percent.
It was followed by Aviva (2.56 percent), Admiral Group (2.04 percent), Randgold Resources (1.98 percent) and Barclays (1.66 percent).
