Prince’s handcuffs to be auctioned for charity

Los Angeles, March 13 (IANS) The rhinestone-encrusted handcuffs used by the American recording artist Prince on stage in 1994 are being put up for auction alongside a number of other one-of-a-kind items belonging to the star.

The items are being offered for sale at Nate D. Sanders Auctions by the "Purple Rain" hitmaker's former-wife Mayte Garcia and his former manager Owen Husney, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

The guitar was used by the 57-year-old singer throughout the production of his early records and is supplied with a note from Husney, proving the guitar's authenticity.

Bids for this item will begin at $60,000, with five percent of the final value headed for charity.

The auctioneers are also offering the chance for Prince fans to get their hands on the diamond engagement ring he gave to Garcia, which has a starting bid of about $100,000, as well as sweet handwritten notes penned by the singer on heart-shaped paper.

Bidding will begin on March 17.
