Coach Ranieri asks Leicester to stay grounded in crazy EPL

London, March 12 (IANS) Leicester City head coach Claudio Ranieri hopes his team can take advantage of a "crazy" English Premier League (EPL) football season, ahead of Monday evening’s clash with Newcastle United at the King Power Stadium.

With his side five points clear at the top of the table as they prepare to host Newcastle, Ranieri can certainly be proud of what his side has accomplished so far this campaign.

After achieving their initial target of 40 points to ensure EPL survival, the Leicester coach wants his side to capitalise on what he believes has been a crazy season so far, in order to achieve something special.

“The league this year is crazy. You know my ideas. I still have these ideas. Every decade or 20 years, something strange could happen,” Ranieri told Leicester's official website on Friday.

“For this reason, we are fighting because it’s a crazy league and anything could happen. We have to fight and at the end we can say ‘we have achieved this’.”

Visiting the King Power Stadium on Monday evening is a Newcastle side which has lost five of its last six EPL fixtures and sits second from bottom in the table.

“We’re thinking about Newcastle. It's a difficult match because they're in a dangerous position. There are so many good players. I think it will be another difficult match because they are fighting to survive,” Ranieri said.

“I said there are five games and then I can say what we can do, but now we are focused on Newcastle. Three points against Newcastle are very important for us.”
