Mumbai, March 11 (IANS) A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), gained 115 points, or 0.47 percent, during the afternoon session on Friday.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading higher by 30.15 points, or 0.40 percent at 7,516.30 points.
The Sensex of the BSE, which opened at 24,620.39 points, was trading at 24,738.34 points (at 01.34 p.m.) in the afternoon session -- higher 115 points, or 0.47 percent from the previous day's close at 24,623.34 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 24,817.80 points and a low of 24,552.26 points in the trade so far.
Sector-wise, the S&P BSE fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) index gained by 1.14 percent, oil and gas index moved up by 0.69 percent and energy index inched up by 0.65 percent.
