Army chopper makes emergency landing in Punjab

Chandigarh, March 11 (IANS) Two army officers sustained minor injuries when an Indian Army helicopter made an emergency landing in agricultural fields on Friday at Mailli village in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district, police said.

Police officials said that the two pilots of the helicopter were forced to make an emergency landing after it developed a technical snag. There were four officers on board, including two pilots.

The helicopter had taken off from Jalandhar Cantonment, 35 km from Hoshiarpur, and was headed to some place in Hoshiarpur district.

The villagers helped the army officers to come out of the helicopter. They were later taken away by army authorities.

Police and army have put up a security cordon around the grounded helicopter till it is repaired by engineers and declared fit to fly, officials said.
