Thiruvananthapuram, March 7 (IANS) Kerala's ruling UDF is "pained" at the personal attack unleashed by the Left opposition on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, said its convenor P.P. Thankachen.
Addressing reporters here Monday at the Congress state headquarters, he cited the statements made by Chandy about the way he has come under heinous personal attack from the Left.
In an interview to a vernacular magazine, Chandy said the personal attacks are not just what one hears but much worse.
Responding to Chandy's sadness, Thankachen said they attacked his wife and children and it should never have been done.
"They could have taken him politically but not on a personal level and for that they rode on baseless allegations. Chandy is one person who has devoted his full time and energy to the state and he mostly sleeps when he travels and he does not even spend a minute with his grandchildren, which is something every grandfather wishes," he said.
Chandy and his family have come direct attack from the Left opposition both inside and outside the assembly, mostly around the solar scam.
