Thrissur (Kerala), March 5 (IANS) A court here on Saturday directed a case be registered against a senior police official as his minor son drove an official vehicle.
The Thrissur vigilance court gave this direction following a petition filed by public activist K.T.Benny which said Inspector General of Police Suresh Raj Purohit is also responsible for his son's violation.
The court has directed the vigilance director to register the case and submit its report before April 26.
State Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala earlier this week has already ordered a probe by Assistant Director General of Police Rajesh Dewan into the violation.
Trouble began for Purohit who is attached to the Kerala Police Academy after a video of his Class 11 son driving an official car went viral and soon former chief minister V.S. Achuthanandan slammed police for not registering a case against him.
In the visual of the incident, which occurred three months back, Purohit's son is at the wheel, and another person is seen seated on the front seat.
