Los Angeles, March 2 (IANS) Disney has announced a new High School Musical movie after the 2008 film High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
Jeffrey Hornaday, who has Disney Channel's Teen Beach Movie and Teen Beach 2 to her credit, is set to direct and choreograph the latest instalment, reports usmagazine.com.
'High School Musical' is part of Disney Channel's DNA. It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we are excited to announce 'the start of something new' as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth instalment of the 'High School Musical' franchise, Disney Channel President Gary Marsh said.
High School Musical is described as a modern-day 'Romeo and Juliet' which tells the story of Troy Bolton (Efron) the star athlete at a small-town high school who falls for nerdy beauty Gabriella Montez (Hudgens) at a karaoke party.
The film will feature an entirely new cast and it has not yet been revealed if any of the original stars will make an appearance.
Earlier, the "High School Musical" franchise launched the careers of a host of stars including Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale.
