Real Madrid can buy back Morata till 2017 for less than $32.5 mn

Madrid, March 1 (IANS) Real Madrid retains the right to buy back their former forward Alvaro Morata between summer 2016 and summer 2017 for an amount ranging from 20 to 30 million euros ($21.7 to $32.5 million), which would be paid to Juventus, the footballer's current club.

Online whistleblower Football Leaks, which specializes in revealing soccer secrets, on Tuesday said this clause was included within Morata's contract when he signed for Juventus in July 2014, reports Efe.

According to a copy of the player's contract, signed by the three parties involved, Real Madrid received 20 million euros ($21.7 million) in four installments.

Real Madrid also convinced the Bianconeri not to sell or loan the Spaniard until July 16, 2017, when the repurchasing option expires, and if the Italian club breaches this clause, it has to pay 80 million euros ($86.8 million) to Real Madrid.

The Spanish capital side can exercise its right of buying back Morata until the first half of July 2016 or during the same period in the following year, on condition it notifies Juventus one month beforehand.

In case Real Madrid decides not to buy back Morata before summer 2017, it still has the option of benefiting from the player if Juventus receives an offer to sell Morata to a third party.
