Minogue, Jenner’s legal battle over first name

Los Angeles, March 2 (IANS) It seems that there's some bad blood between singer Kylie Minogue and reality TV star Kylie Jenner, as the two are currently in a legal battle over the trademark of the name "Kylie".

Minogue took to Twitter to seemingly take a dig at the 18-year-old star, reports aceshowbiz.com.

"Hello... My name is Kylie #lightyears," Minogue wrote, quoting a lyric of her 2000 track "Light years" from the album of the same name.

It is said that the hashtag was a way of saying that the "Get outta my way" singer wanted to say that she had greater experience than the teenage star.

Last August, Jenner filed a US trademark application to protect her first name in connection with advertising services.

In February, KDB, an Australia-based business representing Minogue, filed a notice of opposition to Jenner's application to prevent her from claiming ownership of the name.

They also note that if the request is approved it will "cause confusion" for Minogue's fans.

In the court documents, KDB points out that Jenner's trademark bid is undeserved since she is only a "secondary reality television personality" who appears on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" as "supporting character" to the Kardashian sisters.

Additionally, the firm states that Minogue has owned the domain name, Kylie.com, since August 21, 1996, a whole year before Jenner was even born.
