Chennai, Feb 29 (IANS) Debutante Satna Titus considers her role in the forthcoming Tamil action-thriller "Pichaikkaran" as alms offered to her by the film's lead actor and producer Vijay Antony.
"If it was not for Vijay sir and his wife Fatima, I would not have got this role. I consider it their 'pichai' (alms) for me," Satna told IANS, adding that she is very "happy and proud" to be associated with the project.
The film, which releases in theatres on Friday, is the story of a beggar with a secret past.
Talking about her experience of working on the project, Satna said: "Initially, I was so nervous and I almost broke down while filming the first shot. Vijay sir kept encouraging me and that in turn helped me to perform comfortably".
More than the film's director Sasi, it was Vijay Antony who helped Satna pull off her role.
"It was Vijay sir and his wife who found my pictures and flew me down from Kerala for auditions. On the sets, Vijay sir would show me how to do a particular scene. He's a very accommodative and supportive co-star," she said.
In the film, she plays the owner of a pizza joint.
Recalling the shooting experience, she said: "For one of the songs, we had to shoot in a field. We had to shoot barefoot and I hurt my feet real bad during the process. However, the overall experience was fun and I was lucky to have worked with a great team."
Satna will next be seen donning khaki in Tamil film "Eidhavan", which also features Kalaiyarasan.
