General budget is progressive, perfect, says Naqvi

New Delhi, Feb 29 (IANS) Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Monday said the Union Budget 2016-17 presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was a "practical vision document" of the central government.

"It's a perfect, progressive and people's budget," he said in an official statement issued here.

The minister said the general budget was the Narendra Modi government's "commitment to empowering villages, farmers, women, youths and poor people" of the country.

"This general budget is a mirror of an economy which is based on commitment to transparency and development and free from power brokers and middlemen," the minister said, and added that the Indian economy was safe and strong even in global economic slowdown only due to lockout and blockade of "loot lobby" by the Modi government.

"Each and every paisa of public money is dedicated to the welfare of poor, needy, weaker sections, farmers, labourers and youths. This atmosphere of trust and development has sent those people into depression who considered loot of public money as their birthright," Naqvi said.

Jaitley presented the general budget in the Lok Sabha earlier in the day.
