Opposition trying to create perception of lawlessness in Bihar: CM

Patna, Feb 27 (IANS) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said that the BJP-led opposition has been trying to create a perception of "return of jungle raj" in the state, which is contrary to the rule of law that prevails.

The chief minister said in the Assembly in reply to a question that there is rule of law in the state and assured the people that no compromise would be made with it.

"Law and order is under control and there is communal harmony in the state," he said.

Nitish Kumar said an attempt was being made to create a perception of fear, lawlessness, and "return of jungle raj" in Bihar under a conspiracy by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led opposition.

He said BJP leaders were experts in false propaganda and campaigning for vested interests.

The police have started to act against organised crime across the state and it is wrong to link "any crime" that is reported to the overall law and order situation, he said.

The opposition BJP and its allies have alleged that the state has been sliding into lawlessness ("jungle raj") since the Nitish Kumar-led 'grand alliance of the Janata Dal-United, Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress took office in November 2015.
