Los Angeles, Feb 26 (IANS) Hollywood still has some progress to make and it "ain't cool enough yet", says actor-rapper Ice Cube.
Ice Cube, who announced that he wont be attending the Oscars ceremony, made the comment while addressing students at Loyola Marymount Universitys School of Film & TV, where he took part in the ongoing Hollywood Masters interview series.
He also said that there aren't "enough Ice Cubes out there", reports hollywoodreporter.com.
It aint cool enough yet. I mean, its still got gatekeepers. Its got gatekeepers everywhere. Cool people still have a hard time showing what they got in Hollywood," Ice Cube, one of the producers of the biographical drama film "Straight Outta Compton", said.
"And Ive been fighting my whole career to show a different side. But theres not enough Ice Cubes out there. Theres not enough Ice Cubes getting a chance to do their thing," he added.
Coming off the back-to-back successes of "Straight Outta Compton" and "Ride Along 2", he added: Im ready to run a studio. Im ready to green light movies, and be in it to win it.
However, he had no intention of raising money outside the industry.
Then what youre doing is fighting with your money to get back into the industry, or for them to use your money instead of their own. So, you got to figure out how to do it within the flow of the industry," he added.
