London, Feb 23 (IANS) Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal has revealed that he rejected an offer from English football club Manchester United last summer in order to sign with Bayern Munich.
The 28-year-old, who spent four seasons with Bayer Leverkusen, left Juventus in 2015 to return to Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, reports Efe.
"Yes, there was a chance to come to England. It was last summer and at one point we thought that is what would happen. I liked the opportunity that they had offered me, but eventually it did not happen and I chose to come to Bayern," Vidal said on Monday.
Vidal joined the Bavarian club, current leader of Bundesliga, for 37 million euros ($40.7 million) and played 22 games in which he scored two goals.
"I wanted to come to a team this strong and to a project that is so ambitious," the midfielder said, indicating that he feels "very happy".
