Ahmedabad, Feb 22 (IANS) Three buses of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) have been set ablaze by unidentified miscreants allegedly owing allegiance to the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS), agitating for reservation to the Patel community in government jobs and educational institutions.
A mob pelted stones at a bus near Turkha town on the Sanali-Botad route in Saurashtra region on Monday.
The bus was later torched by the miscreants. Nobody was injured and the attackers fled the site.
In earlier incidents on Saturday night and Sunday, Patidar agitators set on fire two buses -- one near Lathidar on the Botad route, and another near Atkot in Rajkot district.
Botad Superintendent of Police Saroj Kumari, who looked into both these incidents, said the situation was under control.
Last week, another bus was torched in the Patidar-dominated Sarthana area of Surat. No injuries were reported, and no one has been arrested so far.
