New Delhi, Feb 22 (IANS) The train and bus services from Delhi to Lahore remained inoperative on Monday due to the ongoing Jat agitation in Haryana.
"The rail operations in Haryana are yet to start because of the Jat agitation. So the Lahore-bound Samjhauta Express was cancelled today (Monday). It is likely to remain cancelled tomorrow (Tuesday) as well," a Northern Railway official told IANS.
The Samjhauta Express has been cancelled since February 19, the official said, adding: "The operation of the train will begin only after the route is clear."
Similarly, the bus service between Delhi and Lahore remained suspended.
"The bus service between Delhi and Lahore has been inoperative since the violence erupted in Haryana. It is likely to remain inoperative tomorrow (Tuesday) as well," a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) official told IANS.
People belonging to the Jat community have been agitating demanding reservation in government jobs and educational institutions.
