Tokyo, Feb 22 (IANS) Tokyo stocks opened lower on Monday as Wall Street's drop at the end of last week, coupled with a firm yen, weighed on the market mood.
As of 9.15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average declined 50.60 points, or 0.32 percent, from Friday to 15,916.57, Xinhua news agency reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 5.11 points, or 0.40 percent, at 1,286.71.
Notable early decliners comprised mining, bank, and iron and steel-linked shares.
