HSBC offers customers voice, fingerprint ID system

London, Feb 19 (IANS) HSBC bank is set to launch voice recognition and fingerprint ID security services in Britain in an effort towards introducing biometric banking, the media reported on Friday.

The bank said its internet banking customers will no longer have to remember a password or memorable places and dates to access accounts, BBC reported.

HSBC said its service will be offered to up to 15 million banking customers.

Francesca McDonagh, HSBC Britain's head of retail banking and wealth management, described the change as "the largest planned rollout of voice biometric security technology in the UK".

"The launch of voice and touch ID makes it even quicker and easier for customers to access their bank account, using the most secure form of password technology - the body," she added.

Barclays has already introduced voice recognition software, but it is only available to corporate clients.

RBS and NatWest have offered finger print technology for the last year.
