"We hope the Pope's visit to Rome's mosque will take place during the Jubilee," Rayed Krimly told Adnkronos International (AKI).
"We are still waiting for an answer from the Vatican to fix a date for this visit, but we all know how full the Pope's diary is," said Krimly, who is also president of Rome's mosque and Islamic Centre, and headed a delegation of Muslims who last month presented an official invitation to Francis to visit the mosque.
The Vatican audience took place on January 20, just days after Francis made a landmark visit to Rome's synagogue.
