Los Angeles, Feb 18 (IANS) A man accused of stalking Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow has been found not guilty.

Paltrow appeared in a court here earlier this month where she said a man named Dante Soiu had sent her 66 letters between 2009 and 2015, reports mirror.co.uk.

The court heard the letters described Soiu's intention to marry Paltrow and a pair of earrings he sent her in 2009 as a Christmas gift. Several letters reportedly contained pornography and statements that Soiu wanted to cleanse Paltrow of sin.

But on Wednesday, jurors found him not guilty on all charges and there was reportedly no recommendation that he be hospitalised for psychiatric treatment, reports mirror.co.uk.

In court, his lawyer said his client had simply written to Paltrow and that recent letters hadn't included pornography.

Paltrow was the first witness called and authenticated 48 of the letters, many of which contain religious messages and statements referencing her death.

She testified about letters and packages she received from Soiu dating to 1999, including several that allegedly contained pornography, sex toys and statements that he wanted to cleanse her of sin.

One letter described Paltrow "bowing to death". The actress said the reference was disturbing.
