CPI-M seeks help from ‘democratic forces’ to oust Trinamool

New Delhi, Feb 18 (IANS) The CPI-M on Thursday said it desired the cooperation of "all democratic forces" in West Bengal to defeat the ruling Trinamool Congress.

A CPI-M statement said the decision was taken at a two-day meeting of its Central Committee which ended on Thursday.

"In West Bengal, the main task is to restore democracy and foil the aggressive efforts by the communal forces to polarize the people in the state by ousting the present Trinamool Congress government.

"The CPI-M will seek the cooperation of all democratic forces in the state to strengthen people's unity in West Bengal to defeat the Trinamool Congress, isolate the BJP and their machinations," it added.

The statement made no specific mention of the Congress, with which a section of the Communist Party of India-Marxist wants a tie-up to contest the coming assembly elections.
