Kejriwal Distributes Subsidy Among e-Rickshaw Drivers

New Delhi, Feb 17 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday distributed subsidy cheques of Rs.15,000 to 4,600 registered e-rickshaw drivers here.

This subsidy is being provided from the Air Ambient Fund of the Environment Department of the Delhi government.

While urging people to opt for e-rickshaws as a mean of transport, Kejriwal said: "It is the best means of transport as it is eco-friendly and does not contribute to environmental pollution."

"We will also give Rs.30-35,000 as financial assistance to the drivers of e-rickshaw who have not retro-fitted their old vehicles due to expenses of retrofitting," Kejriwal announced.

He also asked Transport Minister Gopal Rai to build more stands for e-rickshaws to promote their use.
