Nay Pyi Taw, Feb 13 (IANS) Leader of Myanmar National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi made donations on Saturday to mark the 101th anniversary of her late father's birthday.
Alms food and robes were offered to Buddhist novices from various townships in the capital, Xinhua reported.
"I want all young people in the country to be like my father," said Suu Kyi, whose NLD party won the general election on November 8, 2015.
The anniversary birthday of Bogyoke (General) Aung San is celebrated in cities across the country.
Last year, events marking the centenarian anniversary of Bogyoke Aung San's birthday were held in his birthplace at Natmauk township of Magway region.
Bogyoke Aung San strived to unite the entire nation but he was assassinated in July 1947 six months before Myanmar's independence.
