New Delhi, Jan 30 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday attacked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the ongoing protest by the workers of three municipal bodies and claimed that the party was dumping garbage in the city".
"BJP is dumping the garbage everywhere in Delhi. The Aam Aadmi Party government is cleaning it. Everyone is playing their own politics. I appeal to the people of Delhi to help us clean the garbage, Kejriwal said in a series of tweets.
He also appealed to the BJP and the Congress to help his government pick up the garbage and not cause any inconvenience to the public.
Kejriwal has directed his government to deploy as many trucks as are needed to pick up garbage. A PWD taskforce has been formed by the Delhi government for picking up garbage that has been piling up across the city because of a strike by the employees of three civic bodies.
"The (protesting) civic bodies' members should get their salaries immediately. They have worked. They are asking for their rights," Kejriwal tweeted.
"We are saying that we have already given all the money for the entire year to the MCD (sic), while BJP is saying that no money has been given. Who is right," asked another of his tweets.
The three civic bodies were created out of the erstwhile Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by trifurcating it.
Over 1.5 lakh employees of the three municipal bodies went on a strike on Wednesday over non-payment of their salaries.
Taking note of the situation, the Delhi High Court has sought the response of Delhi government, the three municipal bodies, and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) by February 2.
