She will address students of the institute in the upcoming India Conference at Harvard. She will be speaking on February 7.
Dongre, who came up with Grassroot - a sustainable handcrafted contemporary brand from the House of Anita Dongre - is humbled and excited at the opportunity.
"It is a privilege to be among the top names representing the Indian fashion industry at one of the finest institutes of the world. I'm excited to be speaking on February 7," Dongre said in a statement.
Dongre added that: “Grassroot has been a long cherished dream for me. I have always wanted to create a bridge between the crafts of India from our remotest villages and the global consumer. And I am glad that we have created a sustainable platform for the artisans."
Grassroot chronicles and restores heirloom traditions from the heart of Indian villages and fashions them into contemporary tales. She has collaborated closely with artisans, helping them create better livelihoods.
The initiative is a tribute to the handcrafted traditions of India. It revives and sustains dying and forgotten crafts and weaving traditions by providing a consistent platform for artisans across India.
Apart from Dongre, filmmaker Karan Johar will also be a part of the conference. He will share insights on Bollywood.
It is also reported that the 2016 edition of the conference, which talks about India In Transition - Opportunities and Challenges, will see an assemblage of names like Shashi Tharoor, Kamal Haasan and Chanda Kochhar.
