Tibet Gets Record Number Of Tourists

Lhasa, Jan 27 (IANS) Tibet welcomed a record 20 million tourists in 2015, generating some $4.26 billion in revenue, nearly three times the figure in 2010.

Tibet held a number of festivals targeting tourists in 2015 and marketed travel packages with new themes, Xinhua news agency reported.

Capital Lhasa saw its tourism revenue more than triple over the past five years.

The number of tourists visiting the city rose by a yearly average of 23.32 percent in the period to 11.79 million in 2015.
