Paramount Pictures Gets Rights Of ‘Little House on Prairie’

Los Angeles, Jan 28 (PTI) Paramount Pictures has acquired the producing rights of the big screen adaptation of the iconic TV series "Little House on the Prairie".

The idea to produce a new "Little House on the Prairie" movie has been cooking for three years now and it's finally coming together at a different studio.

Following a few changes at Sony Studios, the project written by "Shame" scribe Abi Morgan is moved to Paramount Pictures, said The Hollywood Reporter.

David Gordon Green was previously attached to direct before he quit and got replaced by Sean Durkin.

No cast or other details have been released.

The story, based on classic children's book by Laura Ingalls Wilder, was made into a series on NBC which ran from 1974 to 1983.

It follows patriarch Michael Landon who leads his pioneer family living in the American Midwest during the 1880s.

Melissa Gilbert, who was 10 at that time, was cast as the family's second child Laura Wilder on the show.
