Ranchi, Jan 23 (IANS) A defence university is all set to come up in Jharkhand after Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar laid the foundation stone of the varsity here on Saturday.
Laying online the foundation stone for the Jharkhand Raksha Shakti University, Parrikar assured the state of full cooperation in the defence sector and for the establishment of the university.
Speaking on the occasion, Parrikar said modern day defence was not all about strength but it also requires brains, in the wake of threats of cyber attacks.
The minister was speaking at a function, organised at the Morabadi Football Stadium here, after he hoisted the country's tallest tricolour at the Pahari Mandir here.
Defence is not only about strength but also needs brains as "we live in a cyber age where cyber attacks are also carried out", he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced the session in the Raksha Shakti University would commence from the year 2016-17. "The session in the university would commence from June-July 2016-17."
