New Delhi, Jan 22 (IANS) Models dressed in ensembles using Indian textiles and created by ace designers like Ritu Kumar and Rohit Bal, have featured in a 2016 calendar that has been launched here.
Kiran Kheva and Aviinash K. Pathania, directors of Indian Federation for Fashion Development (IFFD), launched its calendar here on Thursday.
Every year, IFFD curates a calendar focusing on Indian fashion designers. This year, the calendar focuses on designers along with Indian textiles from places like Vanarasi and Jaipur, as also Assam and Gujarat.
"With this calendar, IFFD wants to tell the world that India is just not a manufacturing hub for global brands, but it can emerge with its own innovations and compete with the world and how Indian designers are exploring their own potential and pushing their own boundaries," Kheva said in a statement.
The IFFD Calendar designers include - Ritu Kumar, Rohit Bal, Suket Dhir, Daniel Syiem and Raw Mango by Sanjay Garg.
Pathania said designers are even trying to find out what more they can do with their heritage. "There is a great sense of nostalgia about Indian textiles and that's what these designers have presented in their designs," he added.
The 2016 calendar was photographed by Kunaal Bose, and Rishi Raj was roped in to ensure unique styling. Shubhashini Ornamentals by Akassh K. Aggarwal was responsible for adding bling to the shoot, and make-up was done by Ossi KT and Nishi Singh.
