Surat, Jan 20 (PTI) A local production house is making a Gujarati-language film on the life of Hardik Patel and the OBC quota agitation of which he has become the face.
The film, titled 'Power of Patidar' and being produced by Kesar Bhavani Film Production would be released after three months.
Releasing the poster of the film, director Mahesh Patel said its budget was Rs 1 crore.
"We are at present working on the script of the film which revolves around Hardik Patel and the agitation he is leading... we will start shooting by February," he said.
The film is being produced by Dipak Soni while Sanjay Dev has been signed to play Hardik's role.
Soni said that Hardik, who is lodged in Lajpore jail here, had given oral consent for the film.
"Hardik as well as other leaders of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti have given us permission for the film," he said.
Director Mahesh Patel said the film will trace Hardik's entire life journey.
"Our script will be based on real life events. It will have Hardik's personal life, incidents which inspired him to start the agitation, how he fought against government and went to jail, etc. We are planning to release the film after three months," he said.
"We want to use real-life locations to make the film more authentic. We will seek government's permission to shoot at the locations where protests took place. We have also planned to meet the Chief Minister Anandiben Patel to seek her permission for the location shooting," said Patel.
The makers as well as the lead actor Sanjay Dev are also planning to meet Hardik in jail.
"I want to meet Hardik so that I can learn about his mannerisms and inculcate his personality into my character. I am also watching videos of his speeches," said Dev.
