HC Notice to Kejriwal on DDCA’s Defamation Case

New Delhi, Jan 15 (IANS) The Delhi High Court on Friday issued a notice to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and BJP MP Kirti Azad on a defamation suit filed by the DDCA for allegedly making defamatory remarks about its functioning and finances.

Joint Registrar Anil Kumar Sisodia sought responses from Kejriwal and Azad by March 2 on Delhi and District Cricket Association's (DDCA) suit seeking Rs 2.5 crores as damages from each of them for their defamatory remarks.

The plea said Kejriwal and Azad levelled allegations against the DDCA regarding financial irregularities and corruption in selections at the junior level to malign the DDCA's image.

Earlier, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had filed civil defamation suit against Kejriwal and five other AAP leaders for allegedly defaming him and sought damages of Rs.10 crore from them.

Jaitley also filed a criminal defamation case against them.
