Los Angeles, Jan 7 (IANS) Singer Janet Jackson has hit back at false reports that she has throat cancer.
The music icon took to Twitter on Wednesday officially shutting down the rumours, reports people.com.
The 49-year-old clarified her clean bill of health with a short video featuring her song "The great forever" which ended with a brief note to fans.
"Remember... believe it when you hear it from my lips. The rumours are untrue," the message read. "I do not have cancer. I am recovering. My doctors have approved my concerts as scheduled in Europe and, as I promised, the postponed shows will be rescheduled. Thank you for your prayers and love, she said.
On December 25, Jackson announced that she was postponing her first tour in four years to have surgery. The singer didn't specify what the surgery was for, but encouraged fans to "hold on" to their tickets and they would be honoured in a "special way".
The rescheduled concert dates have not yet been released.
