Chandrababu Aims to Make Andhra Manufacturing Hub

Vijayawada, Jan 5 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said he aims to transform the state into a manufacturing and exports hub.

Naidu held a meeting with officials here to review the arrangements for the CII partnership summit, beginning on January 10.

He said the three-day summit must be aimed at bringing in a slew of investments for the state.

According to officials, 976 delegates including 224 foreign delegates will attend the event.

Naidu suggested officials to hold an elaborate discussion on increasing exports and for giving thrust to the manufacturing sector.

The summit will hold the discussion on drafting the Indian global manufacturing strategy, global financial architecture and financing for growth strategy.

Union ministers Venkaiah Naidu, Nirmala Sitharaman, Arun Jaitley, Ashok Gajapati Raju, Suresh Prabhu and Prakash Javadekar and Niti Aayog vice chairman Arvind Panagariya and CII president Sumit Majumdar will be among the key participants.

Industry and business leaders who are likely to participate include Godrej Group chairman Adi Godrej, Walmart CEO Krish Iyer, Kishore Biyani of Future Group, Shoppers' Stop chairman Neil Raheja, Reliance Retail CEO Damodar Mall, Aditya Birla Group CEO Visakh Kumar, Retailers Association of India (RAI) CEO Kumar Rajgopalan, CISCO president Anil Menon, WTO director Shishir Priyadarshi, Rolls Royce (India) president Kishore Jayaraman, RBI deputy governor R. Gandhi, ILO director Panudda Boonpala, Subash Chandra from Essel Group, Indigo president Aditya Ghosh and Spicejet MD Ajay Singh.
