Los Angeles, Dec 26 (PTI) Ricardo Cornelius, a crew member of "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter", died after a US Army Hummer accidentally crushed him on the movie's set in Cape Town, South Africa.
Ricardo, 34, was one of the crew members responsible for manually rotating the prop on the sets, reported Ace Showbiz.
According to the source, he had to "rotate a small platform upon which the vehicle stood, but the platform tilted and the huge vehicle fell on him."
He was rushed to hospital immediately after the accident and was placed on life support. Unfortunately, he couldn't survive and died hours later.
Ricardo's wife, Shafiefa, said her husband's employer didn't tell her anything about what actually happened to him.
Although the company "helped her financially," she demanded closure.
"No one can tell me what happened, I need closure. His colleagues who I spoke to blocked me on WhatsApp," she shared.
"No amount of money will bring my husband back. None of the bosses have even contacted me to tell me what happened.
I've been making my own assumptions all along," she added.
Ricardo had been a crew member on the set for five weeks.
According to Shafiefa, his husband was excited about his new job because he had been unemployed for about a year. "He was really happy about his new job because we just got married and we were both at home," Shafiefa said.
The sad news came after a revelation that stuntwoman Olivia Jackson needed to have her arm amputated after a motorcycle crash during production.
The sixth installment of the "Resident Evil" movie franchise stars Milla Jovovich, Wentworth Miller, Ali Larter, Li Bingbing and Iain Glen. Directed by Paul WS Anderson, the movie is set for a US release on January 27, 2017.
