J.J. Abrams Explains Deleted Scenes from 'The Force Awakens'

Los Angeles, Dec 24 (IANS) The trailers of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" have some scenes which don't appear in the movie, director J.J. Abrams says.

"There’s a shot where Kylo Ren turns on his lightsaber, which was also not in the movie. There were a bunch of things we ended up not using," Abrams told ew.com.

Another scene which didn't make it to the movie is the one featuring Lupita Nyong'o' Maz Kanata.

In one of the movie's trailers, the tiny alien handed Luke Skywalker's (Mark Hamill) lightsaber to General Leia (Carrie Fisher).

Now that fans have noticed that the scene didn't appear in the film, they start to guess the reason behind the omission.

Now they don't have to speculate anymore as Abrams has revealed the reasons behind chopping off the scenes.

"Sometimes you discover that things you would have cut off a limb to shoot on the day are absolutely inconsequential, and in fact less impactful than if you were to remove it," he explained.

The film will release in India on Christmas.
