Scolded by Teacher, Boy Jumps into Canal

Faridabad, Dec 23 (PTI) In an apparent suicide bid, an 18-year-old boy allegedly jumped into Agra Canal here after being scolded by his school teacher, police said today.

The boy's father in his complaint to police said that Suraj, a class X student of Modern Vidya Mandir school here, jumped into the canal yesterday after being scolded by his teacher, they said.

Upon receiving the information, police along with rescue personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation to trace the boy but he could not be found till today morning, police said.

A case has been registered against the school management and investigation is underway, they said.

In a separate incident, a person at Sector-31 here complained to the police that his 12-year-old daughter allegedly ran away with one Jitendra, a resident of Bharat Colony, as the latter promised to marry her, police said.

A case has been registered and investigation into the matter is on, they said.
