Contest Begins to Name World’s Longest Glass Bridge

Beijing, Dec 21 (IANS) A contest has began to come up with a name for the world's longest and highest glass bridge in China's Hunan province.

The 430-metre bridge boasts the world's steepest zip line and highest bungee platform (300 metres), Xinhua reported.

Construction work on the glass bridge was completed on December 3 and it will be opened to the public before May, 2016.

The closing date for entries is February 29, next year and it must represent the name in no more than ten Chinese characters. "Zhangjiajie", "Daxiagu" (Grand Canyon) and "glass bridge" will not be counted.

Suggested names should be original and reflect the unique nature of the structure. Entries must be made through social media app, WeChat.

Whoever comes up with the winning name will be awarded 10,000 yuan ($1,543.4) for each word, will be invited to the opening ceremony and given the title Denominator of Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, a lifelong honour allowing the winner to visit Zhangjiajie for free for life.

Other 1,000 entrants will be chosen at random and invited, along with a family member, on a tour of the location before the end of 2016.
