The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a statement said there were media reports quoting the chief minister speaking about the agency.
"The CBI strongly denies a statement, news item published or telecast in certain sections of the media attributed to the Delhi chief minister that a CBI officer told him yesterday (Friday) that the CBI has been asked to target all opposition parties and finish those who do not fall in line," the CBI statement said.
Emphatically denying the reports, it said this was a completely false, baseless and misleading statement.
"It appears to be a part of a concerted attempt to malign India's premier investigating agency," it said.
Through the statement, the CBI urged Kejriwal to provide the name of the alleged agency officer so that the probe agency can take action against him.
"We urge the concerned person (Delhi chief minister) to name the alleged CBI official so that further process as per law can be initiated. The CBI reiterates its commitment to its motto (industry, integrity and impartiality)," the CBI statement said.
