London, Dec 17 (IANS) A man stabbed himself with on the head at London's Heathrow Airport, officials said.
The man attacked himself outside a shop in terminal 5 at around 5.45 p.m. (local time) on Wednesday, Xinhua news agency reported.
"Police were called to a shop at Heathrow Terminal 5 to a report that a man had injured himself with a knife," a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said.
The man was taken to a hospital with injuries which were not life-threatening, the spokesperson added.
"I can confirm that there was no breach of security. The passenger appears to have picked up the knife in one of the airside departure lounge shops but it would not have been a really sharp object," an airport spokesman said in a statement.
An investigation was launched into the incident.
