Kejriwal Calls Rahul a 'Kid'

New Delhi, Dec 14 (IANS) Hitting out at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for questioning the Aam Admi Party's protests over the demolition of a slum in Delhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday called him a "kid".

"Rahul Gandhi is a kid. Perhaps the Congress Party did not tell him that the railway comes under the ambit of the central government," Kejriwal tweeted.

AAP MPs had staged a protest at the parliament against the demolition of a slum colony in Shakur Basti area in west Delhi by the railways. Parliamentarians of the Trinamool Congress had also joined AAP in the protest.

Rahul Gandhi criticized AAP's protest, tweeting: "Why is AAP doing dharna? They are in power in Delhi."

More than 500 hutments were demolished by Indian Railways authorities in Shakur Basti on Saturday, allegedly resulting in the death of an infant and leaving hundreds homeless in the winter chill.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi visited the area, with party's Delhi unit chief Ajay Maken and pledged to raise the issue in parliament.

"We will try to help you... We will fight for you and won't let this gross injustice happen to you. We will raise the issue in parliament," he told the affected families.

Kejriwal is also expected to meet Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and take up the issue of the death of a baby allegedly during the demolition drive.

Meanwhile, Prabhu defended the demolition, telling the Lok Sabha that the child died even before the operation began.
