ICC Wants Two More Dressing Rooms at Eden for World T20 Final

Kolkata, Dec 10 (IANS) The International Cricket Council (ICC) wants two more dressing rooms at the Eden Gardens which will host the World Twenty20 final on April 3 next year, a senior Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) official confirmed on Thursday.

At present, the Eden Gardens has only two dressing rooms, one for the home team and the other for the visiting team. But as the women's World T20 final will also be held on the same day, cricket's world governing body has asked the CAB for four change rooms.

"Yes. The ICC has told us to get two more dressing rooms. We will sit and have a meeting next to see how to go about it," the CAB official told IANS.

In the last World T20 final which was held in Mirpur, the Sher-e-Bangla stadium also had four dressing rooms for the same reason.

The 12-member ICC team, which had come to inspect the historic venue, had no other issues with it. "Overall, they were satisfied," the CAB official said.

According to sources, the Eden Gardens could host six World Cup games, including some women's matches and the two finals.

"Today has been extremely positive and we are looking forward to the World Twenty20 being staged here," ICC head of events Chris Tetley told reporters here.

He added that he does not foresee any roadblocks ahead.

"For us today was all about discussing preparations on all aspects of staging the tournament. I do not foresee any roadblocks," he said.

When asked about the dressing rooms, CAB joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya said it was a non-issue.

"We are not talking about any new construction. It is all about arrangement, today the meeting was more about how to coordinate," Dalmiya said.

The men's world event starts from March 11.
