Los Angeles, Dec 4 (IANS) Actor Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man in “Captain America: Civil War”, has confirmed that Spider-Man will be a part of the upcoming superhero film.
Ever since production banners Sony and Marvel Studios signed a licence-sharing deal, which allowed the latter to put Spider-Man in some of its films, speculations about the character appearing in "Captain America: Civil War" have been mounting.
"(Don) Cheadle (War Machine) and I are just going, 'Wow, dude, look at this'. We're now like the old guard, and our storyline carries real weight just because of our history in the (canon).
"But we're also looking around like, 'Who thought that Falcon and Black Panther and Ant-Man and now Spider-Man...?' I mean it's like wow, this thing is just crazy,” Downey Jr. told ew.com.
Another thing suggesting that Spider-Man will really appear in "Civil War" is that the entertainment website spotted a man wearing a familiar red-and-blue suit on the set of the movie. The man in the suit appeared to be a stunt double for new Spider-Man Tom Holland's role.
However, producer Kevin Feig declined to comment on the character. "Listen, if there was a cosplayer running around that set when you were there, I don't know what to tell you," Feige said.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, "Captain America: Civil War" will release in May next year.
