New Delhi, Nov 25 (IANS) Aam Aadmi Party legislator Alka Lamba on Wednesday demanded that BJP MLA O.P. Sharma be disqualified from holding the membership of the Delhi assembly and sent behind bars for making "derogatory" remarks against her.
"We have urged Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to ensure Sharma is disqualified as the member of the assembly. Legal action should be initiated against him and he should be sent to jail for his comment," Lamba said at a press conference.
Delhi assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel on Tuesday suspended Sharma from the house until Thursday after he made a comment against Alka Lamba during a discussion in the assembly on homeless people and night shelters in the city.
She said Sharma's comment had hurt the sentiments of all six women legislators in Delhi, including her.
"Sharma's comment will create hurdles in the entry of more women into politics. No family will allow its women members to join politics after hearing such objectionable comment," the AAP leader said.
Other five Delhi women legislators have also demanded strict action against Sharma and called his comment an "insult to all women".
